“A Sikh should never attack another Sikh. He should recognise others as the Guru Khalsa and should remain fearful of them.”

He was both a farmer anda Physician. He was a true and practising Sikh, a scholar of the Sikh religion and an exponent of the hymns of Guru Granth Sahib Ji. He was about 70 years old. From his library I found a book, whose first and the last three pages were missing. It was written in Urdu by a historian named Abu Ulla Tarani, who was first a Brahmin and then converted to Islam. He was an agent of Emperor Aurangzeb and was posted by him in the court of Guru Gobind Singh Ji to smuggle out news… Continue

Power of Listening

Power of Listening

ਬਾਰਹ ਮਾਹਾ ਮਾਂਝ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ਘਰੁ ੪ Twelve months by the fifth Guru in Rag Manjh to be sung in the fourth clef (beat).

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

Note*: Barah Maha meaning twelve months describes the months of the Indian calendar. It is a type of folk poetry that describes changing human moods and emotions with change in seasons in a year. There are two such compositions in Sri Guru Granth Sahib, one by the first Guru in in Rag Tukhari and the other by the fifth Guru in Rag Manjh. Achieve Big, with little Effort

This is a common feature with we people (barring exceptions), to grab maximum with little effort. One desires to have whatever attracts the mind.  This can be termed as attachment or greed. Hinduization of Sikh Faith

1 Illustrated: Hinduization of Sikh Faith & History

Last week’s announcement by the VHP of putting portraits of Guru Gobind Singh and Sree Guru Granth Sahib in Hindu Mandirs has shocked Sikhs worldwide. The fact is that attacks on the Sikh faith and history have been ongoing for years in order to show Sikhs to be a part of Hinduism.

How Did This Begin?

Brahminism has always feared the Sikh faith. The Sikh Gurus… Continue

“Gurbani Kirtan was taking place in a courtyard of a house. The weather was pleasant, kirtan was melodious and everyone was feeling a pull towards Guru Sahib whilst singing along. In time, heavy rain clouds gathered above as far as one can could see.

At seeing the clouds, the sangat was worried about rain falling where this blissful kirtan was being sung. Nobody wanted the kirtan to stop. Raindrops started to spit. Bhai Randhir Singh Ji was doing… Continue

I woke up earlier than usual on darshan day. The time must have been a little after midnight.

Something seemed different that day. With difficulty I lifted my head and peeped out of the small

window of my hut. Although I could not see anything due to the pitch darkness of the night, I sensed

some activity in the trees. I closed my eyes and listened. To my surprise I sensed the trees were in the

same jovial mood as they were when spring was approaching. Winter had just… Continue
